Screen resolution vs viewport size
Screen resolution is the size of your whole display. Viewport size is the part of the page you can see inside the browser window, which shrinks when the window isn’t full screen or when toolbars take up space. Websites adapt their layout to the viewport, not the screen, so the viewport is usually the number a developer needs. Resize your window and watch it change.
What is pixel ratio?
Pixel ratio is how many physical pixels your screen uses to draw one CSS pixel. Standard screens have a ratio of 1, while Retina and most phone screens use 2 or 3. It explains why the same page can look sharp on one device and slightly blurry on another.
Why your developer asks for this
Layouts often break only at certain sizes: a menu that overlaps the logo on a tablet, or a button that drops off-screen on a small phone. Sending your screen size, viewport and browser with your first message lets your developer reproduce the problem straight away instead of guessing.
