Meet Sova: AI assistants that answer from your own documents

The Sova owl

PageProofer started as a fix for a problem I kept running into as a freelance developer: wrangling client feedback on websites. Sova started the same way.

Every company I worked with had the answers somewhere. They were in the website, the spec sheets, the procedures, the contracts and a folder of supplier PDFs. The hard part was finding the one paragraph you need while a customer waits on the phone, or before a website visitor gives up and leaves.

A search box doesn’t help much. It only finds the words in the document, and people search with the words their customer used. ChatGPT doesn’t help either. It’s never read your warranty policy or your tolerance tables, so it fills the gap with something that sounds right and isn’t.

What Sova does

Sova builds and runs AI assistants that answer questions from your own documents, web pages and PDFs. Every answer links to the exact document, section and page it came from, so anyone can check it in one click.

It works in four steps:

  1. Index. Your pages and documents are broken into short passages that can be found by what they mean, not just the words they use. Text, tables and PDFs, even scanned ones.
  2. Find. When a question comes in, the assistant pulls the few passages that actually answer it.
  3. Stick to the source. The AI is only allowed to answer from those passages. It has nothing else to draw on, so it has nothing to make things up from.
  4. Answer. You get a clear answer with its sources. If your documents don’t cover the question, it says so and points the person to someone who can help.

Because the knowledge lives in your documents, not inside the model, nothing needs retraining when things change. Fix a procedure in the morning and the afternoon’s answers use the fix.

For your customers, and for your team

It’s the same assistant either way. On your website, it answers buyers’ questions from what you’ve published, and lets your team know when someone looks ready to buy. Inside the company, it gives your team one place to ask about SOPs, spec sheets, contracts and manuals, without tracking down the one person who knows.

“The AI RAG Agent Sova built for our site is exactly what we hoped for. It truly feels like Sova brought our site into the future.”
