Add a site with the browser extension
With the PageProofer browser extension, account admins can add a new website to PageProofer without opening the dashboard, filling in a form or installing any code. Go to the website, click the button, and you can start leaving notes straight away.
Add a site
- Install the PageProofer extension for Chrome or Edge and make sure you’re signed in to PageProofer.
- Go to the website you want to add.
- Click the PageProofer button in your browser’s toolbar.
- PageProofer tells you that none of your sites use this domain. Click Add site to followed by your account’s name.
That’s it. PageProofer creates the site and loads on the page, ready for your first note.
If you’re an admin on more than one PageProofer account, choose the Account to add the site to, then click Add site to PageProofer.
What gets set up
- Name and domain: both are set to the website’s domain, without
www.. For example,https://www.new-client.com/aboutbecomesnew-client.com. You can rename the site or add more domains, like a staging or local site, in Site Settings later. - Who can see it: the same default as a site added from the dashboard. You can change it in Site Settings.
- Who has access: you and the account owner.
If your account already has a site with that domain, PageProofer doesn’t create a duplicate. It adds you to the existing site instead.
Invite your team
The extension only adds you and the account owner to the new site. To bring in the rest of your team, open the site on the dashboard and invite them. Anyone you invite can install the extension and start leaving feedback straight away. See User Management.
Clients and guests
Clients and guests usually won’t have the extension, and they don’t need it. When you’re ready for them to leave feedback, copy the embed code from Site Settings and add it to your website, or send it to the website’s developer. See Embed Options.
Who can add sites
Only account Admins can add sites from the extension. Members and clients see the message that none of their sites use the domain, and are asked to contact an account admin. See User Roles.
